ABOUT JOHN
Born in Brooklyn, NY, John Cornicello has been making beautiful images for over 40 years. His career started as a young snapshot photographer in Elizabeth, New Jersey. His first camera was a Kodak Duaflex (that he still has).

John took the normal high school and college newspaper/yearbook route. He studied under Ed Sculley ("Ed never patted anyone on the back because he was too tired from kicking them in the ass") at Ramapo College of New Jersey where he received his bachelor of arts degree in 1979. Following graduation he went to work in New York as a photographer's assistant in large catalog production studios. John quickly graduated to being a lead photographer and soon after went off on his own to start his own still life advertising photography studio on West 29th Street. His studio experience is with large format cameras (4x5 to 11x14).

Like many others, John's life made a big change in the late 1980s when he discovered personal computers. At first he worked on databases with other photographers (client management, studio management, job tracking, etc.). Soon after, someone soon introduced him to Aldus PageMaker and a new life as a designer, typographer, and layout artist was born. John moved back to New Jersey working for advertising agencies.

John's next big move was to Seattle, WA to help produce the Thunder Lizard PageMaker Conferences. These were soon joined by the Photoshop Conference and John's life was coming full circle as it brought photography back into his life, becoming his new passion.

After working at Thunder Lizard Productions John was hired by Adobe Systems Inc. to work in their Seattle office setting up the Adobe User to User discussion forum. He has been a part of Adobe Systems for over 11 years.

These days John is working 95% digital, but still has a 5x7 view camera for special projects.
