Glossary and Terms
Aspect Ratio: Photographic prints come in a variety of sizes such as 4x5, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, etc. The ratio between the short and long sides of these prints differ, so the same image printed on different size paper will result in different cropping. The following image illustrates this effect. The full frame image (from the left side to the yellow line) will print as a 4x6 or 8x12 image. An 8x10 image will be cropped to the red line (4x5 and 16x20 prints will do the same). A 5x7 print will crop to the blue line. An 11x14 print will crop to the green line.
Preparing for Maternity Photos: Do not wear anything with elastic for at least two (preferably 3) hours before the scheduled photo session. Pick a time when you can be relaxed. Bring a variety of clothing and scarves (some scarves and other fabrics will be available at the studio). Please feel free to have your partner join in the photographs. You are welcome to bring other props that you might want to be photographed with.
